The first day in scotland

Yesterday we went to this castle that was like 3 million years old. The plane ride over was good except my neck was hurting really bad. I went to bed at like 10. We did so much walking my feet were killing me because we were walking on a bunch of stones and up and down hills and down steps with huge gaps. We saw this crown and we saw this necklace. I think my favorite thing about the castle was seeing the prisoners quarters. We went to this dark place and they had beds hanging from the ceiling and showed how the prisoners would live. We ate a beef stew dish and it tasted good. The breakfast on the plane was bad. I'm still tired though and we're off to play these games.

Day 1 - A Sleepy Success in Scotland

As you can see, we got a lot accomplished on our first day in Scotland! With only a few hours of sleep, we managed to explore castles, cathedrals, and the city of Edinburgh. Keep checking in for updates about tomorrow! Tomorrow we will participate in the Highland Games! Goodnight!

Harry Potter's Birthplace!

We also got to take a look at "The Elephant House," the place where the first Harry Potter book was written. JK Rowling came up with this character at this very location!

Bobby Greyfriars

One of the first things Matt pointed out to us as we drove through Edinburgh was a statue of a small dog outside of Bobby Greyfriars Bar. When the owner of this bar died, his loyal dog stayed by his gravesite for 14 months, only to leaving at the 1 o'clock gun from the Edinburgh Castle. At this gun, the pup would go for lunch at the bar. When the dog passed away, he was given his own headstone right in back of the Bobby Greyfriars Bar and is remembered as the most loyal dog in Scotland! Isn't that a great story!?

SCOTLAND!

We made it through the airport and into Edinburgh, Scotland! We spent the day exploring the city and touring the castle! We're a bit tired since we got little sleep on the flight, but excited to be here! :)
